En México existen más de 300 variedades de nopal, todas ellas son comestibles, pero dadas las propiedades de cada variedad sus usos difieren. El nopal es un producto que por sus características permite elaborar una gama amplia de productos en distintas ramas de la industria y ser un producto con alta demanda tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Aunado a lo anterior, no hay una claridad de cómo están organizados los participantes tanto en la producción, procesamiento y comercialización de nopal. Aun siendo el nopal un vegetal de suma importancia para la alimentación y también es un símbolo de identidad mexicana, en la actualidad existen varias necesidades por parte de los productores tales como adquisición de abono, capacitaciones para la mejora del sistema de producción y comercialización, equipamiento e infraestructura para el proceso productivo, entre otras más. Será posible que al incrementar asesorías técnicas se logre mejorar la producción de este sector, y gracias a esto exista un incremento de los ingresos de las familias que se dedican a esta actividad. En este trabajo se identificó la situación actual y perspectivas de producción y comercialización del nopal verdura (Opuntia ficus indica) en algunos municipios del Estado de México, analizando la problemática a las que se enfrentan los productores para llevar a cabo la producción y las crecientes oportunidades para la comercialización del nopal en sus diferentes presentaciones existentes en el mercado. También se especificó la existencia de apoyos gubernamentales a este sector, programas integrales de industrialización de los productos, se identificaron las vías de comercialización, uso inadecuado o excesivo de plaguicidas en el cultivo e influencia del intermediarismo con respecto al precio. El nopal es un producto que ha avanzado de manera extraordinaria, en los últimos años ha tenido una mayor evolución, pero aún falta por darlo a conocer en su totalidad, con respecto a sus propiedades y cualidades que tiene. |

In Mexico there are more than 300 varieties of nopal, all of them are edible, but given the properties of each variety their uses differ. The nopal is a product that by its characteristics allows to produce a wide range of products in different branches of the industry and to be a product with high demand the nationally and internationally. In addition to the above, there is no clarity of how participants are organized in both the production, processing and marketing of nopal. While the nopal is a plant of the utmost importance for food and is also a symbol of Mexican identity, there are currently several needs on the part of producers such as compost acquisition, training scans for the improvement of the production and marketing, equipment and infrastructure for the production process, among others. It will be possible that by increasing technical advice, the production of this sector will be improved, and thanks to this there is an increase in the income of the families engaged in this activity. This work aims to identify the current situation and prospects for the production and marketing of vegetable nopal (Opuntia ficus indica) in some municipalities of the State of Mexico, analyzing the problems faced by producers in order to carry out production and increasing opportunities for the commercialization of nopal in its different presentations in the market. It will also specify whether there are government supports to this sector, comprehensive product industrialization programmes, identify in routes of marketing, inadequate or excessive use of pesticides in cultivation and influence of intermediary regarding the price. The nopal is a product that has advanced in an extraordinary way, in recent years has had a great revolution, but still needs to make it known in its entirety, with regard to its properties and qualities that it has. |
