El objetivo de esta investigación fue realizar un análisis de la cadena de valor de amaranto en el Estado de México, considerando a los actores, sus relaciones y funciones, y factores que afectan su competitividad. Se conformaron paneles de trabajo, donde participaron 17 expertos en el tema, el primero se realizó en abril y el segundo, en octubre de 2023. Se levantaron encuestas de campo durante los meses de mayo a septiembre de 2023 a proveedores de insumos, productores, acopiadores, transformadores, consumidores, agentes de instituciones de gobierno (INIFAP, Colegio de Postgraduados y Secretaría de Agricultura). Se detectó que, las relaciones entre proveedores de agroquímicos y maquinaria agrícola-productores, son comerciales. Instituciones gubernamentales, ofrecen asesorías y generan investigaciones como adaptaciones a implementos agrícolas en conjunto con grandes productores. A nivel productores, se organizan bajo un esquema informal integrado de 10 a 15 productores. Mencionaron no estar organizados bajo una figura de asociación, sociedad, unión, etc. 4% de los encuestados, mencionó dedicarse al acopio/comercialización de grano. El 92 % de los productores, busca canales de comercialización por sus propios medios. Acopiadores/compradores fijan el precio del grano. Los vínculos entre transformadoresproductores, dependen de la cantidad de superficie sembrada, estos establecen lazos más fuertes con grandes productores, con medianos y pequeños, son comerciales. Se requieren establecer agroindustrias en el Estado de México. Es importante desarrollar un esquema de financiamiento que permita mejorar y/o ampliar paquetes tecnológicos, organizaciones para la generación de economías de escala, y creación de un sistema producto amaranto a nivel estatal.

The objective of this research was to carry out an analysis of the amaranth value chain in the State of Mexico, considering the actors, their relationships and functions, and factors that affect their competitiveness. Work panels were formed, where 17 experts on the subject participated, the first was carried out in April and the second in October 2023. Field surveys were carried out during the months of May to September 2023 to input suppliers, producers, collectors, transformers, consumers, agents of government institutions (INIFAP, Colegio de Postgraduados y Secretaría de Agricultura). It was detected that the relationships between suppliers of agrochemicals and agricultural machinery producers are commercial. Government institutions offer advice and generate research such as adaptations to agricultural implements in conjunction with large producers. At the producer level, they are organized under an integrated informal scheme of 10 to 15 producers. They mentioned not being organized under the figure of association, society, union, etc. 4% of those surveyed mentioned dedicating themselves to the collection/marketing of grain. 92% of producers look for marketing channels through their own means. Collectors/buyers set the price of grain. The links between transformers producers depend on the amount of planted area, they establish stronger ties with large producers, with medium and small commercial ones. Agroindustries will be required to be established in the State of Mexico. It is important to develop a financing scheme that allows improving and/or expanding technological packages, organizations for the generation of economies of scale, and creation of an amaranth product system at the state level.
