  <controlfield tag="001">IA_Plants belonging to the family Asteraceae have shown various biological properties that affect various organisms, from bacteria, fungi, viruses, mites and insects. Therefore, the following research is suggested in order to evaluate the antibacterial properties that has Tagetes nelsonii Greenm and mexican Artemisia ludoviciana subsp. By isolating the active substances under an extraction method and demonstrating the effect of compounds on a strain of Escherichia coli. The methods used to measure bacterial activity of extracts against the bacteria were: growth kinetics and antimicrobial susceptibility testing by disk diffusion under the Kirby Bauer method. 6 treatments with several repetitions were evaluated by experimental completely randomized design and test multiple ranges Tukey (error: 0.05) , this evidenced analysis percentage inhibition is in relation to the concentration of treatment and the effect was demonstrated antibacterial resistance E. coli extract against A. ludoviciana contrary to T. nelsonii which showed intermediate sensitivity. The discrepancy in the results could be due to the mechanism of action, the extraction technique or methodology used. Therefore this study can&#xB4;t be generalized to other bacteria and other species</controlfield>
