Este volumen conserva la estructura de la primera edición y se divide en dos partes: Fisiología Nutricional y Relaciones Suelo-Planta. En la Parte I, se ha hecho mayor hincapié en las interacciones raíz-brote, la fisiología del estrés, las relaciones hídricas y las funciones de los micronutrientes. Ante el creciente interés mundial en las interacciones planta-suelo, la Parte II se ha modificado y ampliado considerablemente, en particular, abordando los efectos de los factores externos e internos en el crecimiento radicular y el capítulo 15 sobre la interfaz raíz-suelo.
